Compagnie Yann Lheureux
Saturday 29 July, 2pm
A contemporary reimagining of the myth of Icarus that defies gravity and expectation working with the music of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
Flagrant Delire explores ideas key to the work of Yann Lheureux: how we build and present a personal identity through urban space.
Through the skill of his performance performance, Tony Thich shares his doubts, his opinions, his athletic freerunning and his personal anxieties as Icarus soars.
He develops his character and the story within multiple dimensions of the space he performs in. The movement plays with the street and its buildings - glass, metal and concrete - expressing the drama and the high-stakes through dramatic leaps and runs.
The performance is accompanied by the energy and delicacy that arises from Summer, part of Vivaldi's much loved Four Seasons
About the company
Compagnie Yann Lheureux creates work that explore the same questions: the complex, sometimes inextricable links between memory, geography and identity. His choreographic language is expressed in the friction between artistic practice and choreographic techniques. A singular approach that leads him to continually reflect on landscape and identity.
Whether in short or more ambitious works, whether created for theatres or in the outdoor space, Yann Lheureux mixes choreography and writing with other cultural elements. He creates a shared space that questions the world in which we live, a sensitive place where dance is at the heart of an artistic, political and civic vision. The choreographer defines his work by taking a look at the other, humanity and the world, thus linking the questions of the personal and the public.
